I just got Iron Coffins from Amazon. It's about U-Boat warfare from a U-boat captain that survived the war from 1941 onwards. I've read it before but I didn't own it so I bought it and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was an originalish pressing from 1969. It smelled like the moon landing and weed!

Approx 160 pages left to go in Lisbeth III (the girl who kicked the hornet's nest). This series is a good, good read. Not too serious but very compelling and you really do want to find out what's going to happen next. Call it what you want, I've enjoyed it very much. I hope it goes out nicely.

Very satisfying finish to the Millenium Trilogy (aka "The Girl Who....."). Convict me of being guilty of enjoying popular tripe written for the masses if you like, but these were 3 entertaining fucking books.

Glad to hear the end is worth the read. There still isn't a release date for the paperback, which is odd since its been over a year since the hardcover release (June 2010).

And I don't what I read, tripe or not, as long as I'm entertained by it.

I'm about 2/3 through Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Its a fun, entertaining read. I'm not very up on my Lincoln history so I can only assume that it sticks pretty close to his actual life (but with vampires).
The movie should be a lot of fun whenever it comes out.

Are you waiting for the standard paperback? The copy I got was the oversized one for 40 percent off at WalMart, came to about 12 bucks.

Yeah, I want the matching set on the shelf.

I guess could go to the library (although I rarely seem to finish a book when I get it from the library) or track down a used one (but I've bare seen Dragon Tattoo used) until it comes out. I still might try those after I finish the next couple of books I have lined up.

It won't be long until it comes out if the bigger paperback is out already - I actually would have thought they would drop together... maybe for some reason Canada is ahead in publishing it in this format (though I can't see that).

I wanted the matching set too - I almost bought the hardcover at WalMart when it was cheap, but luckily enough I only had to wait a couple of weeks before I found the one I wanted.

You might want to contact your publisher. The Autobot called Skids has that exact same title for his Autobiography.

I'm reading Atlas Shrugged. Third time this year for me. It's an awesome book. Second only to the Bible. I know Jesus would totally appreciate Rand's philosophy. I wish Rand and Jesus could run togehter on the Republican ticket this year. They'd be even more awesome than a Cain/Gingrich ticket.

Currently in the midst of Manhunt: The 12 Day Chase For Lincoln's Killer.
Fucking phenomenal. I had no idea how deep the information went on the days before, during and after Booth shot Abe. At times events are down to the exact minute.

No mention of vampires though.
Weird.

The Tragedy Of Darth Plagueis The Wise. Or, as James Luceno renamed it, simply "Darth Plagueis."

So far, this is what all Star Wars books should be: picking up the dangling plot threads that George Lucas left and tying them up in a manner that actually fits what's come before. If Del Rey had stuck with this sort of book instead of bullshit like Legacy and its "Jacen becomes a Sith Lord because Sith Lords are kewl and kills Mara Jade because that's so EXTREME!!!1! and then the Sith rule the galaxy and the Jedi are on the run and who gives a shit about the whole 'Balance of the Force' thing that was so important in the movies because half-naked Twi'lek girls with Maul tats!" load of crap, then I'd still be paying money for them.

So far, we've learned about Darth Plagueis' motivations, his view of the Sith, and how he took Palpatine as an apprentice. There's also a very nice, understated explanation for why Palpatine seems to be the only person on Naboo with only one name, and an homage to his supposed original name in rough drafts (Cos). I expect, even though it'd be fucking huge, an answer on how the hell Anakin came to be, since a picture of adult Maul on the back makes me think it'll go up through at least Episode I. (The introduction is Palpatine immediately after he kills Plagueis, divining the story through the Force, so that would be possible.)

I honestly have to wonder if they'd originally canceled this book (wasn't it first solicited in 2007?) because it tells too much, but they've lost so many readers now they knew they had to do something to sucker some of us back.

And, actually, I now think it was to jive with the Clone Wars cartoon.

Funny thing is, reading James Luceno describe how Sidious came across Maul on Dathomir and his mother gave him to Sidious because she didn't want Queen Talzin to know that Savage Oppress had a brother makes me actually want to re-watch those episodes of the show.

I'm reading Rise and Fall of the Third Reich for about the dozenth time. I love that book.

I also just finished reading Crush Depth which is about a semi-WWIII between the allies and a German/Boer alliance. It's about a sub hunt and it's actually quite good.
