So much for not collecting a new line. Between Christmas, my birthday, and Father's Day, I now have the Stormtrooper, Boba Fett, Chewbacca, and Han Solo 12" figures from the Disney Store. I'd like to get the Vader, but not the Pilot Luke.

I bought a Jawa and Lin droid from whatever the hell cardback series it was on. Still looking for the other two droid sale droid and Jawa figures at less than insane prices.

Vyn, have you put the Helicarrier together yet? if so I'd love to see pics. I bought the UCS B-Wing on eBay a few weeks ago. I had it sent to my moms house so it'll be the end of the year before I get it. I'm still planning on buying the LEGO Sandcrawler, Slave I, TIE Fighter, Red 5 X-wing, Detective Agency, and Palace Cinema before the end of summer. I'm gonna have one helluva Christmas when I pick them up from my moms! And I'm probably going to do something I would never normally do but because it's Boba Fett I'll gladly take advantage of tards. I plan on buying 2-3 extra UCS Slave I's to hold onto to sell years from now. I doubt it'll get as high as the UCS Falcon but I guarantee it'll get up there.

I picked up 2/3 of Defensor last week. Still unopened. I need Groove and Hot Spot, who will be doubly difficult to find since they're two different size classes.

If I was more of a comic book guy that set would DEFINITELY be in my possession right now. As it is I can't see it selling so fast that they retire it any time soon (just look at the $400 Death Star set that has been around for years) so if I can't find any other good sets down the road I just may get it. And depending on how good the lights/motors look those would have to go with it.

Why would Lego retire a popular set that sells well, unless it was announced as a limited edition?
That's the opposite of good business that would drive up the secondary market.

most sets of this size are around for 2-3 years.
note how the B-Wing only lasted a year and a month - it was notorious for being a poor seller and actually was clearanced for 50% off on "Brick Friday" of 2013, so the notion that the Helicarrier will be around if it doesn't sell fast is incorrect - if it doesn't have legs, it will be EOL'd. if it consistently sells, they'll keep producing it. check out the 10188 Death Star page, there's a tiny little link in the right-hand sidebar under "Availability at LEGO.com" that displays the stock count per day - the data only goes back to March 26th, but it grew to 550 in stock on April 2, then steadily sold until a huge production boost on the 22nd and 29th, peaking at just under 1000 units, which quickly dropped to almost 0, then they got an influx of ~200 a few days ago. this set has been on shelves for just under 7 years, and they're still producing new copies.

I honestly thought that they were keeping the Death Star around because it wasn't selling. I didn't realize that they were still selling at even that high price. And I didn't realize that they retired the Red 5 X-Wing! GAH!

Because it was set to retire I pulled the trigger early and got Red 5. I hate not taking advantage of double VIP points but sometimes you've gotta.

i was wrong about the X-wing, it's just on back-order (the message is "Out of stock, will ship in 30 days "). i forgot that for some reason, when that status switches, it shows up as the 'end' date on brickset :/ i hope you didn't order it expressly because of my fuck-up, did you? if so, maybe you can still cancel the order. that said, i'd be surprised if it lasted through more than the end of the year, which would put it at just under 3 years of production. i could see it being on sale this year a "brick friday", actually.

I did but it's not that big of a deal. Now it's just one less set that I've gotta buy. I've got the original UCS X-Wing so I kinda wanna see what this one looks like next to that one.

Oh, Senor JJL, I didn't see you lurking there. Yeah, this guy was a genius to get rid of this shit, and I can't believe I was dumb enough to take it!

:D

Seriously, though, much appreciated, sir. I now have one of my favorite obscure Marvel heroes, as well as a way to display the Motormaster mold as the superior standalone piece it is without disassembling Menasor (who, granted, seems much better after the initial "this guy is no Superion!" wears off).
I coulda made millions!!! Oh well. Glad you like them!

They're not all from this week, but recently I've picked up a Howard the Duck Pop! bobblehead, the Nightmare Before Christmas Reaction figures, a kickass glow-in-the-dark Haunted Mansion hitchhiker ghost three-pack, and a Game of Thrones Arya with a wonky eye that will need to be exchanged. All but the HM figures are from Funko, aka the company that can and will get any damn license it pleases.

I got Groove, meaning only one more piece needed for Defensor, and Viper, who is cool despite being a lazy Powerglide repaint because he's the first mass market Joe/Transformers crossover figure. The Megatron repaint into Warpath was a huge hell no; there are plenty of other unmade G1 tanks. That mold would've kicked ass as Quake.

Mosep Bineed. Despite being a must-have for so long, the figure's a major disappointment. No holster, no index fingers that grip the gun properly, no table, no cup, no paint detail on his head. And a $15 MSRP.

If you're on the book of faces, you've seen my comparison shots with the Protectobot Blades, who costs the same or even less at some stores!
