Just got back. I would rank it about even with Thor, not as good as Cap. There were enough things making me not like it, that I had almost decided to down rate it FOR SURE, up until around the 1hr 45min mark (of a 2hr 22min film). It did redeem itself for me however, but it was close.

The banter is shit. I was really unimpressed, considering it was Joss Whedon at the helm. He's the banter master.

Hawkeye is certainly not going to change Chux's opinion of the character. Talk about facking useless - he and Black Widow were NOT needed here.

The tech - specifically the Quinjet and Helicarrier - were really really great. Really great.

The Hulk steals the show, but of course I would say that. A couple of his quick physical outburst-type thingys made good visual one-liners on their own.

The fighting takes place mainly in dark places for the majority of the film. I always see this as "cheaping out on the effects", and when combined with the 3d I found it like watching a blurry, muddy swamp.

Loki is well past played out. Time to move along.

The alien using Loki to open the gate to earth looked very much like a skrull in disguise, however the attackers did not.

The Thanos teaser is placed mercifully in the midst of the credits, which were really cool on their own I might add.

Just saw a minor spoiler about the post-credits scene, and what seemed like confirmation of the appearance of a certain purple villain who isn't Louie the Lilac.

That Infinity Gauntlet prop makes a whole hell of a lot more sense now, given that I was confused when JJL said it didn't show up.

JJL, here's a link to more info. It's basically a glove (silly, I know, but it's comics) that is used to house six Infinity Gems so that a being can wield all six. When the six are used by one person, he basically can kick God's ass if he wants to, but always seems to do something retarded like get into a fight with Spider-Man and not start off by saying, "Dude, you're dead" (which would then be true). Spoiler for the rest of y'all.

And he looked fucking perfect. Absolutely perfect.

Ah, okay, thanks. That's interesting. The Wiki said it's in the background of Thor, but I don't remember it. It also mentions another connection to the film that seems like it fits.

Finally going to see it today. I waited and didn't see it Friday or Saturday because I was going to try and take the kids on Sunday. But that plan didn't work out. So then I couldn't make it yesterday. I'm going to the first damn show at 11:45AM today! The five hour wait is torturous and interminably long!

I literally-not figuratively, not metaphorically- LITERALLY cried tears of JOY during the climactic third act. Tears. Of. Joy.
It started when Cap says "Hulk? Smash." and flowed freely for the next 20 or so minutes.

Has everyone seen the film? Or are we still having to do the Spoiler Thing. If so I'll wait to get to specific points.

In regards to SenorJJL's asking about the Skrulls, the Chitauri were the aliens in the first Ultimates series. Later on other Ultimate books clarified the Chitauri were a violent more militaristic branch of the skrulls. They reason they aren't called Skrulls in the Avengers is because Fox has the rights to film Skrulls because of the FF films. Yo joe!
