Cool. I hope he is a necromancer.

Also, by your last post and reading your Q&A, I assume the Black Series cards are going to change colors?

Yep. The 6" boxes will be taller to accommodate Vader and Chewie and more open to show off more of the figures. The packaging design is mostly the same, but with the orange details changes to orange. The next wave of Anakin and AOTC Clone Trooper will be the last on the orange look; Jedi Luke, Vader, Chewie, and black pauldron Sandtrooper will be first on the blue.

The 3 3/4" cards are changing to a TIE Fighter Pilot look similar to the concurrent Rebels Stormtrooper card (also similar to the 2008 Clone and Stormtrooper cards). The bubbles will have inserts again, and will have blue detailing instead of orange. So the 3 3/4" Black Series card look will be sort of halfway between 6" and Saga Legends. I far prefer this more interesting look than the black coffin of the current line. We still have the Dagobah Luke and Yoda wave, plus the Ree-Yees and Brock Starsher wave left on the orange. Hoth Luke, R5-G19, and repacks of ROTS Vader, Yoda, Starkiller, and Darth Malgus were revealed as part of the first blue wave.

For the most part I really don't care much about the packaging in general since I usually open the figures. But, I have to admit that I bought a couple figures that I normally wouldn't have bought when they were on the vintage cards. R5-D4 was one and I can't remember the other. Maybe I'll have to go through my stuff in the garage later.

Stopped by Target and TRU today and saw some of the new stuff. Target had the 6" Biker Scout and the 30" X Wing. For the most part, the 6" line looks decent. But what exactly is the point of the X Wing? From what I could tell, the only moving part was the front landing gear and the removable R2 head. It seemed really expensive for what it was.

TRU had the Endor set with the AT-ST and the Han/Greedo set. Unfortunately they didn't have the one GI Joe thing I was looking for.

Which one?

I'm guessing either VAMP/Night Landing or Low-Light/red Night Viper. Would I be correct?

Vamp/Night Landing. There was a sticker on the shelf for it, but it wasn't there. Might check one of the other TRUs this weekend. The only Joes they had were the Arctic set with Snake-Eyes and the Destro/Leatherneck/Hawk 3 pack.

Oh, and I saw those little plastic Star Wars guys. They would have been a good idea back in 1980. Also seem overpriced.

The X-wing is part of the "Hero Series," which is also what they call those 12" "shampoo bottle" figures. The X-wing and upcoming Falcon are lightweight, aren't in-scale with anything, and have few or no moving parts. They're for cheap, big gifts or ceiling displays, and presumably for the wow factor in-store, similar to Jakk's Pacific's 31" figures (which now seem to be 20", so there's another damn scale).

I've seen them (Command) at Target as well. They don't look bad for what they are, and you do get a lot of shit in one package for a fairly okay price. They're mostly about bringing kids into the line and letting them army-build cheaply. At least they feel more like they belong with SW than motherfucking Angry Birds.

$40 is cheap for that X-Wing? TRU has Biggs' X-Wing on clearance for $40 now. Eh, maybe as a decoration, I guess. Someone with some skill could probably add some paint and put lights in it to spiffy it up.

Since you are a bit younger than the rest of us, did you play with the plastic green army men when you were a kid? I don't think my youngest brother ever played with them, but it seems like Toy Story could have made them popular. Although I think Toy Story may have taken away certain molds of the green army men. I had a ton of them when I was a kid. There were a few guys who had clearly been shot. There were even WWII Germans. They didn't have their special symbols, but you could tell by the uniform and helmet.

They actually are releasing a version with lights and sounds as a Sam's Club exclusive.

I played with them a little. I had the Toy Story-branded bucket, as a matter of fact, in addition to a scattered few others. I remember playing with them in the bath (that sounds wrong) and setting up a few scenes, but they were never my favorite toys.

Did they change the 3.75" cards? Today I saw two Yodas on a peg. One was the regular rectangular card. The other was a Stormtrooper head shaped card. Other than the card, they also changed the number. It looked like the same figure.

Yep they did. The TIE pilot card is the newer one. The first wave includes a couple of repacks & a rehash: Yoda & Darth are from last year, Hoth Luke has a new head but is otherwise Vintage Collection Hoth Luke.

Here's a link to the RS photo archive (sorry Chux & MrJJ but it's a damned good resource). Down at the bottom is the first wave of figures for 2015 (TIE Pilot cards like the Yoda you saw). Clicking each figure will give you the details on whether or not you've got the same one from before or not (or have parts of it as per the kitbashing).

If only I had oh-so-helpfully explained this at the top of this very page. ;) :D

But yeah, the new cards are finally hitting. 6" Black Series gets the blue-accented box, 3 3/4" Black Series gets the blue-accented TIE Fighter Pilot helmet, and Saga Legends and Mission Series get the orange-accented Stormtrooper helmet also seen on other licenses. I presume they'll stay this way until Rebels season two in the Fall or even for TFA.

Nothing you say gets read properly because of the huge bouncing tittays.

There were 6 months in between those posts. I can't remember Hasbro related Star Wars stuff that long.

Sounds like The Force Awakens merchandise is scheduled to ht stores on September 4.
