Haven't heard about the school thing. It seems silly.

Arizona's immigration law doesn't bother me. It is basically the US Law that the feds aren't enforcing. Mexico's immigration laws are even worse, so I still don't understand why the Mexican President is bitching to Congress about it.

The Mexican president should only be allowed to bitch about what a douchebag he is. Thing I didn't understand about the Arizona law: shouldn't anyone who's arrested be showing ID anyway, making it pointless? Oh yeah, some states issue driver's licenses to illegal aliens. Can't say that that made sense to me.

I haven't figured out that part either. It seems that even if they didn't have a drivers license, the law enforcement officials couldn't ask for proof of citizenship. On some radio show I was listening to last week, a lady called in from Arizona. She said she was involved in an bad accident with a guy (who happened to be an illegal). It was the guy's fault. The cop on the scene found out that he didn't have insurance or a drivers license. He wasn't allowed to ask the guy for any proof, even tough he suspected the guy was illegal. He had to take him down to the station and there happened to be an immigration officer there. The cop talked to the immigration officer, who checked up on the suspected illegal. Found out this was the 2nd time this guy was in the country illegally.

As far as the Mexican President hanging out in Congress with all of the Democrats support probably pissed off a lot of voters. The Arizona govoner's approval rating went up since the law went in place and there are several other states drafting similar laws.

Calderon really needs to get his shit straight before he bitches about anyone else. That country has always been nice if you're fucking loaded and a major shithole if you're not. I think, though they'd never actually admit it, they want to get rid of their poor people. Honestly, I can't see how living in America in constant fear of being deported can be worse than living in a cardboard box in a town that's ruled by drug gangs.

And we really need to get our shit together when it comes to the border. I think I mentioned before, but, if you drive along the I-10, which is close to the border for a long stretch in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas, there are tons of places where you can see Mexico, and there's nothing keeping anyone from just strolling across. All the border patrol ever does are man these checkpoints, miles from the border and completely immobile, and ask people who drive through where they were born. That's it. You can lie to them, and they don't check. (Mrs A always tells them she was born in the US, so she doesn't have to show her green card.) And the checkpoints, in addition to being unmovable, are easily avoided. It's pointless. Border patrol needs to be working with law enforcement in areas with large numbers of illegal immigrants to take care of the problem. And we need to wrap up Afghanistan and Iraq, maybe by saying, "You're on your own, but if you start getting all anti-American, we will fucking bomb you back to the Pre-Cambrian. Fuck that bombing you into the stone age. We're bombing you back to where there was no fucking life." And, for at least the short term, have soldiers patrolling the borders.

No one's willing to do jackshit about this at the federal level, because there's no easy answer, no way to not piss off a lot of voters. It's been going on too long, and the situation's too fucked up.

Yeah, its messed up. The guy on the radio said that there some National Forests along the border where the rangers refuse to let the border patrol go. All the illegals know this. So, there are certain canyons that cross the border that are littered with trash from illegals crossing.

This is the root of the problem. Like just about everything in this country, everybody ignores the problems until they become too serious to do anything about effectively.

It's like this thing in the Gulf. They've known this oil was heading towards the shore and the fragile marshlands for a month or more, but some douche bureaucrat didn't give anyone the okay to maybe do some proactive protection until the shit was a few hundred yards offshore because nobody wanted the onerous burden of accountability from a political standpoint.

Case closed.

I actually just saw a commercial for I think the Governorship of Florida where they were talking up the fact that the gentleman was going to enforce the same style laws as Florida. I thought that a kind of strange thing since the law is so controversial. I didn't know that his approval actually went up...

I'm not trying to disagree in regards to the polls, but I think polls increasingly hold less value. Why? Because they're based on landline phone calls. Younger people and minorities, and even older people, are increasingly not getting landlines at all.

the first panel (or, i guess, really second panel) with "Arizona declares ILLEGAL search and seizures LEGAL on Mexicans" is a great way to summarize it.
Life is short. STUNT IT!
