Re: star wars
I think it's supposed to be a Hoth speeder bike.
I totally forgot about Jabba, JJL. God damn. And you said they finally got the brains to make a proper, grinning Kit Fisto? Fuck me. Hasbro has fucked me. I don't mean in the painful, non-consentual way in which people normally use that term, either, because I'm enjoying every minute of this.

Re: star wars
As I wrote on the other site, grinnin' Kit is a Clone Wars figure. Still, that's better than nothing. I really hope for a realistic grinnin' Kit . . . maybe in the AOTC wave?
Shit. I can't think of a good signature.

Re: star wars
After the exclusive Target pack from last year, they have the sculpt for it, with the dedicated outstretched, Force-blast hand. Given how those sets bombed (I got both that had new figures for $6.99, which I thought was odd, since I would've expected those to go first), they may as well get some mileage from the mold.
I'm trying to figure out why so many are complaining about the window of the AT-AT. It looks gorgeous to me, I must admit.

Re: star wars
I don't remember any speeder bikes on Hoth. Just a convenient thing to stuff in the ass of an AT-AT, I suppose.
thegrinofkitfisto? I believe we all know someone that uses that as their email address.
Edit: I found the Hasbro presentation slides on RS.
I dig the vintage cards.
Can't put my finger on it, but something looks funny about C-3PO.
Is there supposed to be anything new about Vader or Boba Fett?
I guess I'm glad that I skipped the last 4-LOM so I can get this one on the vintage card instead.
Cloud Car Pilot looks kind of goofy. I like the OTC version better. Can't believe it came out in '04.
mail away Boba Fett looks pretty cool.
Glad to see the Cloud Car. Might even get the Snowspeeder.
That AT-AT looks a lot bigger now that it has figures in it.
Looks like I'll be skipping yet another Hoth Battlepack.
I don't know why they say the Biker Scout w/ bike doesn't come out until May. I saw it today.
Force Battlers again? Didn't they fail twice already?
Ree-Yees with camera is pretty funny. Did that odd-colored Imperial Officer get painted by someone from the GI Joe line?
So that means this year, I'll consider buying between 7 and 11 basic figures, the Mail away Boba Fett, 1 or 2 ships, and the Jabba that wasn't shown.

I haven't kept up with LEGO for a long time, but this is pretty glorious.

It comes with Palpatine's Shuttle from ROTS, but holy shit, a LEGO Deuce!

Nice!
The figure looks terrible (more like an alien than a Deuce) but I'm glad they're trying.

Re: star wars
Hasbro really fucked up with this EU wave.
I found it all except for the Spacetrooper today. No idea why he wasn't there, as the case seemed fresh, but, since he's an update and has a duplicate part (if you got Utriss M'toc, which I did), he's the one I can live without if I absolutely must.
Aside from Utriss (really, they should've given him a new fucking hat that fit the totally different headsculpt) and the ridiculously floppy BG-J38, this might be the best wave yet. It's really that good. The Darktrooper, especially, I could totally army build that motherfucker.
And, yet, it's an underproduced TRU exclusive with all the new figures only one per case. Most of these will wind up as scalper bait, and the ones that are left will go only to the hardest of hardcore collectors who know exactly when they were supposed to be put out.
Great job, guys.

Re: star wars
I saw part of the TRU wave, but I think it was mostly repacks. The only reason I say that is because some of them had BG-J38 parts.
Have to ask again...Why did they put a movie droid in with an EU wave when the ESB wave had some EU droid? I skipped the figure that had the torso. If it was BG-J38, I would have bought it.
And I read the Q&A summaries on RS. Not sure which is more annoying...the questions or the answers.

Re: star wars
I have no idea. I honestly think they were trying to sucker people into buying figures they wouldn't ordinarily get. Like a highly-requested ROTJ droid packed in with EU figures, or EU figures with so many waves. HK-47 and YVH-1 were probably the two most wanted EU droids, both with ridiculously HTF movie waves (AOTC and ROTS, respectively). And the repack/repaint wave, which was mostly crap, had the classic Death Star Droid, RA-7. As much as I'd like that droid, I didn't want the figures; I got Jodo Kast (because I'm weird, and only wanted him) and just gave the part away. I think it was the head.
It looks like, if you wanted to spend a lot and give extra figures to your kids, you could probably build BG-J38 pretty easily. Well, except that the Bespin Guard repack isn't really a repack, so people want it.

Re: star wars
There was never any rhyme or reason to which droids came with which waves. They figured collectors who would want BG-J38 would also want all the EU stuff, I guess.
I went to TRU on Saturday and they had nothing; called two others, same thing. Meanwhile, one a few hours south of me got in seven cases. Fuck. My TRU replenishes their exclusives with pretty good regularity, but I'm still worried I won't get them all. It's too bad the line sold like such shit or they wouldn't have had to make them exclusives at all.

Re: star wars
I'll watch out for you, JJL. I don't know what sort of chances I have of seeing more, though.
You sure it wasn't more that they figured that collectors who didn't want the EU stuff wouldn't be able to pass on BG-J38? I'm not trying to say their motives were underhanded, but they do exist to make as much money as possible.Senor JabbaJohnL wrote:They figured collectors who would want BG-J38 would also want all the EU stuff, I guess.

Re: star wars
Thanks for looking out. And I really don't know what their intent was. The fact that they repacked the parts with other figures (as they usually always do) indicates that they know not everyone would want the EU stuff, and they did give people that option. But I was saying, I guess, that they might feel if you're big enough a SW fan to know who BG-J38 is and want him (as he's not in the film unless you really know where to look) then you're probably also going to want to get the EU figures. Obviously, that's not always the case, but still.
I like the build-a-droid thing on paper, but shit like this makes me glad that I won't have to worry about getting the figures in their very first release anymore.

Re: star wars
Tell me about it. I saw the re-release Commander Cody again yesterday. That's two or three times I've seen the re-release, as opposed to zero for the first. I'm pretty sure he has the one YVH-1 part I'm missing. Even being totally "cloned out," I would've bought him just to finish that droid. I want that like most people seemed to want HK-47. (I want RA-7 the same way, but know there's no way to build him.)Senor JabbaJohnL wrote:I like the build-a-droid thing on paper, but shit like this makes me glad that I won't have to worry about getting the figures in their very first release anymore.
