What did I buy? "Jedi! You are surrounded, your army is decimated. Make peace with the Force now…for this is your final hour. But know that I, General Grievous, am not completely without mercy. I will grant you a warrior's death."
Seaspray's technically a movie figure, but he's obviously an update of the G1 character (with movie-styled legs). I imagine him as finally upgrading his body since the original filecard said he had limited mobility in robot mode.
Whaddya think of Storm Shadow? BTW, Charbroil is an obscure character from 1988. For this figure, they kitbashed various parts and stuck a ton of accessories from the 25th Anniversary Blowtorch (one of the last and toughest-to-find figures, though I guarantee he'll show up at Marshall's eventually if he hasn't already). It's a nice figure, but they cheaped out on the head by using a Cobra Commander head with the Resolute Duke helmet permanently attached.

Stormshadow is way more bad ass than I expected. It looks like all his swords hook together. He can store the 2 shorter swords on his waist. Removable throwing stars are a nice touch.
We stopped by Big Lots on the way back and I saw their $10 comic packs. Nothing I really wanted, especially since Copperhead came with the boat I just bought. Might eventually pick up one or two of those generic army soldier sets they have for background pieces. I was thinking the Dreadnoughts need motorcycles. Big Lots had some Hot Wheel motorcycles that were about the right scale for GI Joes for $4.50. The only other motorcycle I've seen is the TRU Wolverine vs. Sabertooth pack. Too bad it was $10.
I got two of the Joe ripcord motorcycle when they went on clearance. One will go to a Dreadnok, but I haven't decided if the other will remain a Joe bike. I know I don't need either of the shitty kitbash Snake Eyes that came with them. Also got the Target exclusive Storm Shadow bike; I don't care for them slapping the Arashikage sigil on everything related to Snake Eyes or Storm Shadow, but it's a cool bike. Just not very Dreadnok-y. Wasn't able to get a Snake Eyes bike (the same bike, but in a better color scheme--blue and grey, IIRC).
My plan is to buy up a shitload of the Storm Rider bike when they go on clearance. Looking at the number of them in every store, they will go on clearance fo' sho'. A pity; that motorcycle is fucking awesome and every home should have one.
I noticed at Big Lots today something rather amusing. The shitty "World Protectors" or whatever, a knockoff Joe line, has some godawful shit action figures, but nice-looking set pieces and vehicles. (Not sure how well-made the vehicles are, but the set pieces should be decent, since they're static.) The SWAT subline includes a dog in almost every set. There are two different dogs, one in a standing position with his mouth open and the other walking with his mouth closed. They're the same breed and color as Order, and painted so they're not completely monochromatic. The Order who comes in the TRU set (the only modern Order) is a direct re-release of the old one, or at least looks like it, and I think he's not painted. So, I'm going to wind up buying a shitty knockoff figure just because the dog looks more like an update of the Joe "character" (unlike Junkyard, Order was always just sorta there and never given much of a personality) than the actual one released by Hasbro.
BTW, what are y'all's thoughts on the Collector Club Dial-Tone? The only image looks like a kitbash with a new head, which is funny, since a Flint head would work fine. I'm thinking that I can build one much cheaper than $40, especially with the shit-ton of extra Flint heads I've gotten from the Flint in Cobra Disguise figures, even if I go on eBay to get an original 1987 (?) backpack for him.

My collection is so incomplete, I'm not worried about getting Dial Tone (especially at $40). The image I saw was so small, you couldn't see any details. Hisstank has a bunch of custom Dial-Tones and they all look pretty decent. Looks like they use parts of Airborne, Snake Eyes, that Cobra Flint head, and some other stuff.
Another thing I saw at Big Lots were the generic Transformers. It looks like they had 3 different 2 packs of generic Constructicons (Crane, bulldozer, loader, dump truck, excavator, & concrete truck). Of course they didn't have Devestator accessories. Still, I wonder if they can combine.
Oh, and my daughter got me on GI Joe question yesterday. She asked which GI Joe was a police man and I couldn't answer. I guess Law is an MP, right? Were there any others? I wasn't planning on getting that TRU 5-pack from Ross because Law/Order, Footloose, and Repeater's gun (for my unarmed DVD Roadblock) were the only things I wanted. Then again, maybe I could use Zartan's body to make a custom Dusty.
Law was an MP. Can't think of any others offhand. The DEF (Drug Elimination Force) was mostly "recycled" characters, but I'm thinking they either re-used some insanely obscure character or added a new one. There's two guys named Bullet-Proof and Long Arm who it appears were intended for the DEF but wound up in the Battle Corps subline when DEF was canceled. (The last year or two of figures, everything was Battle Corps, Star Brigade, or Ninja Force.)
HOLY CRAP! I almost forgot the good one: Shockwave was a SWAT in Detroit before he joined the team.

Went by Target during lunch. Got the Rebel Hoth set. They had a Snowspeeder and TIE fighter in a vintage box. I remember hearing about the Snowspeeder, but didn't know they were doing the TIE, too. If I didn't have a TIE and snowspeeder already, I would have bought one or both.

Just for the record, the TIE is the newest cockpit from 2009, with the small wings (obviously, given the box size) and what's apparently the most film-accurate color they've ever done. To me, that warrants a purchase, but I'm weird like that. (I also realized that there are several gray-accented Snowspeeders in the hangar, meaning I'll get this Vintage boxed one even though it's identical to Luke's Snowspeeder from the regular line.)
I went slightly overboard and got 3 snowtroopers and 12 AOTC clones at Target, since they were only $5 each this week. I've said that the $7 price isn't so bad, but fuck, $5 feels pretty great.
I'm sure they are both pretty cool, but I'm limiting myself because of money and space. And since I just bought the Hoth set and have the Walmart Jabba the Hutt on the way, I don't want to push any boundaries with my wife on toy spending.
Speaking of Walmart, they sent me an email Friday saying its been shipped and I should have it by the 26th. I'm betting I'll have it before that because the starting point of the package is Apple Valley, CA, which is about 3 hours from here.
Found another discount type store called "Tuesday Morning". It is more like a Big Lots than Ross/TJ Maxx. I got the RoC Shipwreck and ParaViper for $4 each.
According to some guys on Hisstank, I hear they have the Hall of Hero's Joes for $5 at TRU Express. I think there is one in the outlet mall near my office. Might have to swing by there to see what they have after work tomorrow.
Tuesday Morning... well, it's a shithole. There are three in the general area. One of them stinks, literally, but occasionally has good stuff. One is in the back end of a strip mall and has the amazingly long hall for an entrance, and has nothing. The third looks like it's in an old house (on the inside) and also occasionally has stuff.
I found the Ninja Viper on a Canadian card there once. Might have to go by if you're finding ROC stuff there now.

I never heard of them before. The one I went into wasn't bad...maybe a half step below Big Lots. I take it that all of these discount stores getting Star Wars, GI Joe, etc. is fallout from KB and KB Outlet stores closing down?
