In SW news, I got snow Captain Rex and the Magnaguard. So I'm now officially done with Star Wars collecting.*

Re: So, what toys did you buy or get this week?
I'm pretty much done with all lines for several months unless I come across a Spacetrooper. Been sort of dangerous for me lately, though. I'm in "I'd like to buy some toys but there's nothing new" mode, and continuously finding GIJoes on clearance or at closeout stores. I keep coming home with more Cobras to bolster my pretty honkin' huge army (in my estimation, though not by Tycho standards) or for spare parts.
On a side note, take the Flint in Cobra Disguise figure (using his Cobra head) and give him the vest from a standard Viper, and you get one fucking sweet figure that most customizers wouldn't call a custom, but I would because it's not the way it came out of the package.

Heh. I built a Marvel Legend Hydra army doing that, and working on SHIELD and Hand Ninjas the same way.

I'm almost like that, but with SW. I don't really have room right now for any more AOTC clones or Super Battle Droids, and I don't yet have a summer job, but those damn sales are pretty tempting.anarky wrote:I'm in "I'd like to buy some toys but there's nothing new" mode, and continuously finding GIJoes on clearance or at closeout stores. Re: So, what toys did you buy or get this week?
Well, when the individual figures are $7 (not counting the more-frequent-than-not sales), and there's a comic pack at Marshalls for $6.99 that's an Iron Grenadier and a Viper (not sure if you're familiar, but it's the basic MARS Industries soldier and the basic Cobra ground trooper, sorta like a 2-pack with a Clonetrooper and a Battle Droid or Gamorrean Guard), it's really tough to pass it up.
It's easier for me to army build Joes. Even if they make slight improvements to a mold, they're humans and individuals, so it's not like Stormtroopers. It's tough to display three different Stormtrooper molds in the same scene

Re: So, what toys did you buy or get this week?
Ordered some GI Joes from BBTS.
Yesterday I went by the local Star Wars figure shop because I know they had some GI Joe stuff. Besides, it was in a plaza that we were going to anyway. Last time I was there, there were some "reasonable" prices on SW figures, so I was hoping the same for GI Joe. I didn't stay long. All of the GI Joe items they had were between $15-$35. Even stuff that was turning up at close-out stores for $3. The other thing that drove me out was the stench of body odor. Holy geez did it stink. Not sure if it was the people playing the card game or if it was the guys playing some D&D game. Whoever didn't stink was stinky by association.

Reminds me of a comic shop near here. They've had SW figures on pegs for $15 and up for about ten years. As in the same exact figures. Here's a hint: no one wants them.

Some of their SW figures were $6-$7, which I considered "reasonable" by collector standards. Even things like the POTF2 and SOTE Speeder bikes were only $15, which if I recall, isn't much more than they sold for when they were new.
Speaking of overpriced, mixed in with their vintage SW, they had a loose-complete vintage Cylon. If it wasn't $35, I might have bought it.

Re: So, what toys did you buy or get this week?
Went to mattycollector this morning and attempted to order Keldor, She-Ra, and Peter Venkman. If anyine is familiar with matty and their eVendor Digital River, its a complete crapshoot whether you'll be able to order anything before it sells out five minutes after it goes live every month on the 15th. So I got in and put two of each in my cart (one for me and one for a friend, he is doing the same in Cali in case we get booted out of the system) and get to the payment screen. I hit enter and up comes the WSOD (White Screen of Doom, which is matty's friendly reminder they are having high amounts of traffic on their servers today). I sit there for a few minutes, and up pops an ERROR screen. DAMMIT! I back click and resubmit my order, although at this point its almost ten after and usually shit is sold out. My friend couldn't even get the order screen to load there was so much traffic. I get the ERROR screen three more times, and at this point, I'm pretty positive I missed out yet again (4th time this year) on the MotU figures. Finally, I back click, and the entire system freezes up. I try opening a new window just to see if the figures are sold out and matty's whole website is "down for maitenance". When it comes back up, my cart is empty. FUCK!
My friend calls me and confirms that all the MotU figures are indeed sold out for the day. There are still Venkman;s availible, but I've lost interest, so I log off the computer all dejected.
At this moment, my phone buzzes that I have incoming e-mail. I check it, and it's an order confirmation e-mail from matty. I got all six figures I ordered! Woot.

I wonder if Mattel doesn't realize they probably would get far more people interested in He-Man if they just continued the Four Horsemen redesigns. I'm not at all interested in figures that look like they're 25 years old, but with more joints.

Re: So, what toys did you buy or get this week?
I'd love for them to go back and do actual figures of the Staction Figures they made after the Mattel line stopped, but they said no. At least not for a few years.
I scoffed until I saw them in person at SDCC last year, then I started getting them. And BattleCat is probably my pick for Action Figure of the Year. It is that awesome.

Re: So, what toys did you buy or get this week?
hauled in two 'world racers' lego sets ('jagged jaws reef' which is two boats and 'wreckage road' which is two cars - sweet!), vintage minifigure collection 5, lego minifigure head salt & pepper shakers and the free tractor lego set (giveaway with purchase of $75 or more this month) and double VIP points (normally one point for every dollar you spend, this week it was a promotion) so i have a $10 credit waiting the next time i go into a lego store or shop online. good thing they're opening a lego store in rockefeller center at the end of this month so because that credit is burning a virtual hole in my virtual wallet.
Life is short. STUNT IT!

Re: So, what toys did you buy or get this week?
made quite a haul at San Diego.
DCDirect Martian Manhunter, John Stewart, Stargirl, Cyclone, and Batgirl
Marvel Select Thing and Abomination
Masterpiece Grimlock
And a Super Mario Galaxy Mario from Japan with his red and black "flying flower" colors for my son.
Hasbro exclusives I got Sgt Slaughter, SuperHeroSquad 3-pack, Autobot Blaster, and Littlest Pet Shop for my daughter.
Mattel exclusives, I got Orko/Prince Adam, DCUC Plastic Man, JLA Starro set, and Ecto-1 Hot Wheels.
And I lucked out on Sunday and got White Sinestro and Black Lantern Hal from Graphitti Design.
I wanted a Hunter Rose Grendel from Shocker Toys but FUCKTARDS only made like 500 of him. Memo to small toy manufacturer. if you are lucky enough to get a license like Grendel, DON'T MAKE ONLY 500 FUCKING FIGURES OF HIM. That's not even worth renting the fucking factory to produce the toys. FUCKTARDS.

Re: So, what toys did you buy or get this week?
I got a gift card from Amazon and I traded in some games, so I had some money to spend at Amazon. Here's what I wasted it on.
3 McFarlane Sports Picks: Gordie Howe (Whalers version), Theo Fleury, and Mario Lemieux.
3 Lego mini racers: a sports car, muscle car, and a hot rod.
and the Beachhead/Dataframe Mainframe comic pack. (Almost scrapped this one and one of the Legos and got the Tomax & Xamot set instead).
The first shipment came today, which is the Gordie Howe, sports car, and the Comic pack. The comic pack is pretty 80s as Mainframe comes with not only a cardboard mini 3.25" floppy, but a 5.25" floppy as well. Do we need to explain floppy disks to JJL?
